Diversity Initiatives

"Choice Hotels strongly supports a workplace culture and environment that is conducive to diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. Diversity across our organization will be a key building block of our future successes. I understand the value of diversity and am committed to continuing to build and support an inclusive, diverse organization."
- Stephen P. Joyce, President and CEO

To further this commitment, we have developed these initiatives:

Board Level Diversity Committee - This committee provides Board level oversight of Choice Hotels' diversity initiatives. The committee also reviews the company's diversity goals and achievement.

Staff Level Diversity Committee - Choice Hotels' associates from all levels of the organization, make up this committee charged with assisting the company in becoming a more diverse and inclusive organization. The committee acts as a resource and guide for the company's diversity initiatives.

Diversity Committee Subcommittees - A number of subcommittees engage associates across the organization to work on Choice's diversity initiatives and efforts. Choice associates lend their interests and passions to make the company's diversity and inclusion initiatives as engaging and meaningful as possible. The subcommittees are organized as follows: Communications and Marketing of Diversity; Inclusive Internal Culture; Supplier Diversity, Older Worker Considerations and Conversations on Diversity.

Supplier Diversity Program - Choice Hotels is committed to diversifying its vendor base to include more minority and women owned vendors. We benefit from increased purchasing options as well as new ideas and processes from a diverse community of vendors.

Minority Ownership Incentive - We are committed to creating a diverse franchise population through action, financial incentives and work with African American, Hispanic, and Native American individuals to facilitate the franchising process. We offer approved applicants up to $125,000 for new, converted or re-licensed midscale Choice brand hotels and up to $50,000 for Choice economy brands.

Community Involvement - Choice Hotels created the Choice Hotels International Foundation in order to formalize and focus the company's philanthropic giving. In conjunction with the Foundation, Community Involvement Committees in each of our four office locations serve the community through company sponsored activities and events that provide volunteer opportunities to associates. To complement the company's diversity initiatives, non-profit organizations that serve minority populations are strongly represented in our company's community involvement efforts.

Women's Business Alliance of Choice Hotels - an organization comprised of Choice Hotels' franchisees and associates to foster professional and social networks; provide a platform for a fair exchange of ideas and discussion; and offer growth opportunities through education and events.
