Frequently Asked Questions on Hotel Reviews

How can I leave a review on ChoiceHotels.com?

Just click on the “Write a Review” button that can be found on any hotel page. You can also log in to your Choice Privileges account and it will list your last 20 stays. Just simply click on the “Review this hotel” link listed next to each stay.

If you want to view stays older than your last 20 stays, then simply go to the bottom of your ”Recent Stays” and you’ll see the question “Want to write a review for a stay that’s not listed?” and then click on the corresponding link that says “Confirm your stay” You will then be prompted to enter your last name and date of arrival to verify your stay. It will then bring up the hotel for which you want to write a review dating back 180 days (6 months).


Why can’t I leave a review as soon as I check into a hotel?


It takes 24 hours after check in for Choice to verify your stay, however, we encourage you to write a review soon after check out so that your review reflects your full experience.

Why can’t I review a hotel stay that occurred more than 6 months ago?

Because this is a new program, Choice’s Verifed Reviews’ functionality only allows reviews for stays that have occurred in the past six months. Guests can write a review for any verified stay that has occurred within this timeframe.

Why did my review not immediately post to the Website?

All of our hotel reviews go through moderation to ensure they meet Choice’s hotel review guidelines. Your review should display on the website between 24-48 hours after writing your review once we have determined it complies with our review guidelines.

Why can’t I leave a review in a foreign language?


ChoiceHotels.com supports English, French and Spanish at this time. To find the French and Spanish versions of the website, simply go to the homepage of ChoiceHotels.com and click on “Language” in the upper right hand corner, where you can switch over to the French or Spanish version of the website. There you can write a review in the respective language of the site you choose. At this time, reviews submitted in languages other than English, French or Spanish will not be posted.

Why isn’t my review displaying on the website yet?

All of our guest reviews go through moderation to ensure they meet Choice’s review guidelines. Reviews can take up to 48 hours to pass through moderation before displaying on ChoiceHotels.com. Guests will receive an email to notify them that their review is displayed on the website, or alternatively, they will receive an email that explains why their review was rejected.

Why must Choice Hotels moderate reviews?

Choice’s review guidelines are set up to ensure that all reviews meet certain standards, ensuring that they are not only relevant, but also family-friendly. Any content that appears defamatory, derogatory, contains personally identifiable, legal or medical information or is deemed inappropriate according to our review guidelines, will be rejected, and will therefore not be displayed on ChoiceHotels.com.

Why was my review rejected?

How do I change my nickname?

Once you create a nickname you can’t change it. We apologize for this inconvenience, so please choose wisely.

How do I leave a review if I am not a Choice Privileges member?

Simply click on the “Write a Review” button on the hotel page of the hotel for which you want to write a review. When you are prompted to log in to the website, you will see a log in screen that will prompt you to enter your name, email address and confirmation number.

Why do I have to log in to leave a review?

We want to ensure that all our reviews are written by guests who actually visited one of our hotels so that current and future guests can benefit from this information and make the most informed travel choice.

I am a Choice Privileges member and I cannot see my past stays in my account. Why?

It is possible that your Choice Privileges account is set to use Airline Rewards instead of Choice Privileges points. Choice Privileges members that use airline miles instead of points are unable to view past stays on ChoiceHotels.com. We apologize for any inconvenience, but you can still go to the hotel’s page on the website and leave a review if you have your confirmation number for that particular hotel stay.

How can I edit or remove my review?

Once submitted and approved, reviews cannot be edited. If you would like to have your review deleted from the website please contact at us at verifiedreviews@choicehotels.com

Does Choice Hotels screen my reviews?

All reviews are moderated to ensure they are appropriate for display on ChoiceHotels.com according to our review guidelines. Positive or negative sentiment of the review is not a determining factor for determining if your review will be displayed on the website.

How do I report an inappropriate review?

Hit the flag button underneath the review, and we will review it again. We have technology in place and a team to moderate reviews to ensure that they are, for example:

• Left by a verified guest
• Family-friendly
• Posted to the correct hotel property
• Relevant and not defamatory or derogatory
• In compliance with all other guidelines.
