October 25, 2012 – Sacramento, CA
For the 3rd consecutive year, the Choice Hotels International Foundation, Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn have teamed up with Rebuilding Together, the signature cause partner of Choice Hotels International, for the Rebuilding Dreams project.
This year, four Rebuilding Together affiliates, representing four very deserving non-profit organizations across the country, competed to win the opportunity to have their building(?) rehabilitated by Rebuilding Together, Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn. With thousands of votes tabulated, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS), represented by Rebuilding Together Sacramento won the 2012 Rebuilding Dreams project. Choice Hotels, Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn volunteers rehabilitated SFBFS on October 25, 2012, kicking off national "Make a Difference Day".
SFBFS provides free emergency goods and services to nearly 20,000 men, women and children each month. In an effort to better move families toward self-sufficiency, grocery items such as dairy, meat, vegetables and fruit are distributed. In addition, the Rebuilding Dreams project further supported SFBFS’s vision by providing an educational garden and outdoor kitchen that can be used as a teaching tool for youth and adults.
Runner-up Rebuilding Together affiliates and the non-profits they represented include:
- Rebuilding Together Broward County, supporting: Helping Abused Neglected Disadvantaged Youth (HANDY), Fort Lauderdale, FL
- Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee, supporting: Urban Underground, Milwaukee, WI
- Rebuilding Together Nashville, supporting: C.E. McGruder Family Resource Center, Nashville, TN
