Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo is crawling with critters
A jewel in the center of the Windy City, the Lincoln Park Zoo welcomes millions of visitors annually to watch bears romp and hear lions roar. This free attraction is open year-round, and families of all ages will delight in the zoo's tropical rainforests, open savannas and dense forest habitats.
Monkey around with the tamarins, langurs and black howlers when you visit the Helen Brach Primate House. This exhibit is made up of natural surroundings that mimic the creatures' native backdrops and offers plenty of play space for its residents. If carnivores fascinate you, you'll love the Kovler Lion House that is home to some of nature's most rare and feared cats including African Lions, Iranian leopards, Pallas' cats and Armur tigers
The zoo's sea lion pool is more than 120 years old, and still ranks as one of the facility's most popular exhibits. Watch from above, or check out the underwater viewing area to see the zoo's harbor seals and gray seals glide through the water, bark excitedly, and amuse onlookers with their tricks and playfulness.
If you're visiting with small children, don't miss the zoo's farm exhibit, sponsored by none other than John Deere. Feed the cows, check out the chickens, pet the goats, learn about the milking process and visit Fitz's General Store for farm collectibles and animal souvenirs.
