Answers to the questions we get most often from our Internet guests are listed below. If you don't find what you are looking for here, please contact us. We are subject to the laws under which we operate. The number of points you earn for your Choice Privileges membership will still be on the room rate actually paid. You will earn 10 points per every whole dollar spent at the Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep Inn, Clarion, Cambria Suites, and Mainstay Suites hotels. You will earn 5 points per every whole dollar spent at the Suburban, Econo Lodge, and Rodeway Inn hotels. Because we have to verify that the lower rate is available for the same dates and room type, changing the reservation will modify that information and we would no longer be able to guarantee the information is the same. When we approve an Internet rate, we need sufficient time to inform our hotel owners of the adjusted rate. The rates on the competing web sites change often. In order to help us find the lower rate that you have submitted from a competing web site, we require the claim be submitted within 24 hours of making the reservation. In order to keep the process simple and efficient, the reservation must be made online. An opaque web site is one that is not clear about the booking. These web sites will often not include the name of the hotel or the type of room you are reserving. This also includes a web site does not immediately confirm a reservation at the time of submission. These web sites are not eligible for the guarantee because we cannot confirm that the reservation will be for the same hotel, same room type, or that the reservation would be able to be processed through that web site. An auction web site is one in which you “bid” or “negotiate” the rates with the web site in order to lower the rates. These web sites are not eligible for the guarantee because we cannot confirm that the lower rate is publicly available for anyone to reserve. The Best Internet Rate Guarantee matches the room rate, only. Most third party web sites state in their terms and conditions that the room rate is for dual occupancy, only. This means that the rate they are providing is for two people in the room; extra person charges would still apply at the hotel. If the competing web site you found states that the room rate includes the extra person charges, let us know. If you have reserved the same size and number of beds and the amenities match, it is probably the same room type. Currently all Choice Hotels participate in the Best Internet Rate Guarantee program. Your claim will not be denied the guarantee because of the hotel chain or its location. Negotiated and membership rates do not qualify because those rates are not available to everyone. A publicly available rate is any rate found on a web site that does not require a membership/account or have any other requirement (including but not limited to age, government employment, and military personnel) that makes it unavailable to any person visiting the web site. A website that does not allow you to make the reservation on the Internet would not qualify for the Best Internet Rate Guarantee. The website must allow you to reserve online in order to qualify. The Choice Privileges program is completely free and available to residents of the U.S., U.S. Territories, Canada, Europe, Mexico, and Australasia (including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Papua New Guinea and Fiji). There are no blackout dates for reward nights. The room preference and hotel of your choice is subject to availability. You will receive your Choice Privileges membership number immediately after applying, but the membership card will not arrive until 4-6 weeks later. Click here to fill out an application to enroll in the Choice Privileges program. Yes, both can be used in conjunction with one another. Yes, when checking availability for a hotel online, please enter your Choice Privileges membership number in the space provided. To ensure you are credited the appropriate points, please present your Choice Privileges card upon check-in at the hotel. Yes, log into your online profile or create an online profile to check your account balance online. Or call or e-mail us for account information. If the check out date was more than 72 hours ago in the U.S. and Canada, please sign into your online profile click on the "Report Missing Stay" link in the right navigation and fill out the Report a Missing Stay form or contact the Choice Service Center. Allow 20 days after checking out of hotels in Europe, Mexico, Australasia, and the Caribbean for points to post to your account. You can call, or email your request. You can call the Choice Service Center, or email us to retrieve your Choice Privileges member number. Choice Privileges points from a stay booked at an eligible rate will post within 72 hours of the check-out date.
If you are a Choice Privileges member and you do not yet have a User Name and Password, select the "Create a Profile" button from the upper left-hand side of any page on the site. If you have already established a User Name and Password, select the "Sign In" button from the upper left-hand side of any page on the site. You are taken immediately to your "My Account" home page, to view your point balance and most recent stays, click on the "Stay Activity" link on the right. You can view your Choice Privileges statements anytime by accessing your online profile on choicehotels.com. Once you sign into your profile, click on the "Stay Activity" link in the right navigation, then use the drop down box to select the statement period you wish to view and click the "Go" button. You can view your stay history in your online profile, along with your account information, room preferences, and reservation history. To create an online profile, please click here. Logon to your profile and complete the Report a Missing Stay form. Choice Privileges members can log into their online account and view their stay receipts in the “Most Recent Stays” section. Members can view their last 5 stay receipts in their online account. A small number of hotels are not linked to our computer network. Because of that, we are unable to extract that information and input it into your online account. You can obtain information regarding your hotel stay by calling the hotel directly. Members can always print out a new membership card from their online profile. Or the member can call the Choice Service Center and they will request a new card. Yes, you can now earn points for stays at Choice Hotels in Hawaii. Please click here to search for availability. Reservations are always recommended, but you do not need one in order to earn points for a stay. Simply tell the front desk clerk you would like to add your frequent traveler number to your stay, and your points will be credited to you. You are required, however, to make a reservation when redeeming a free night. Yes, you will receive points for a stay that you paid for with a gift card as long as the room rate you paid was a point eligible rate and you supply your Choice Privileges number at check-in. You can book your reward night(s) by contacting the Choice Service Center, or by logging into your online profile on choicehotels.com. You can now redeem points for stays at Choice Hotels in Hawaii. Yes, you can redeem 16,000 Choice Privileges points for a gas card from one of 7 different gas stations located nationwide. Simply login to your online profile, redeem your points, and you will receive the gas card within 14 business days. Choice Hotels Gift Cards can be purchased on choicehotels.com or at the front desk of some Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality Inn, Sleep Inn, Clarion, Cambria Suites, MainStay Suites, and Ascend Collection hotels. Call and check to confirm that a specific hotel sells gift cards before planning to buy a gift card there. Not all hotels that accept gift cards also sell them. Gift cards sold at hotel properties or on the web at choicehotels.com do not expire. Gift cards distributed through special promotions may carry an expiration date, which will be printed on the cards. Choice Hotels Gift Cards can be used to pay for room nights or other charges that can be found on the guest bill. If you think your gift card is damaged, click on the "Damaged Card Returns" link or send the damaged card to Card Replacement Center, P.O. Box 66284, Chicago, IL 60666-0284 (retain a copy of the card number for your records). Include your name, address and how you received the card (purchase, gift, reward, etc.). Your replacement card will be mailed via First Class Mail within seven business days of submitting your request. For lost, stolen or damaged cards, the remaining value may be replaced only if the account number and remaining value on the gift card can be verified. No. Choice Hotels gift cards cannot be reloaded at this time.
If the remaining balance on your gift card is not enough to cover your hotel bill, the front desk will ask you for an additional form of payment to cover the remainder of the hotel bill. Since prepaid cards must be treated as cash, orders are shipped only to the Billing Address. This policy exists to prevent fraud and to protect your order. For check orders, products are shipped to the address displayed on the check. Gift cards are not currently shipped internationally, to APO/FPO addresses, or to Puerto Rico. Shipments to Alaska and Hawaii require UPS 2-day air or overnight shipment. Choice Hotels Gift Cards are available online in denominations of $25, $50, $75, $100, $150, $200, $250 and $300. Gift cards purchased at a participating Choice Hotel can be customized for any amount from $50 to $1000. A gift card cannot be used to book a room reservation or to buy additional gift cards. However, it can be used as a form of payment at the hotel. The gift card is not a credit card. It is pre-loaded with funds in US dollars and can be used repeatedly until the balance is zero. You should treat the gift card as you would cash. Choice Hotels Gift Cards are not returnable and cannot be redeemed for cash (except where required by law). If a guest uses a gift card to pay for something of lesser value than is stored on the card, the amount of the purchase will be subtracted and the remaining balance will stay on the card for future use. When you go to use the card again, you may pay with a combination of the balance on the card and another form of payment. Cards distributed for promotions may contain an expiration date, if allowed by law. If no date is shown on the card, the card will not expire. Choice Hotels Gift Cards do not contain fees. Yes, you must physically present the gift card to the front desk staff upon check-in and check-out. We have two extended stay hotel chains; MainStay Suites and Suburban Extended Stay Hotels. These hotels offer discounted rates for stays 7 nights or longer. No, only major credit cards or debit cards are accepted to guarantee a reservation. Yes, all debit cards are accepted at US and international hotels including MasterCard and Visa. We accept all major credit cards at US hotels; including MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, Amoco, Carte Blanche and Japan Credit Bureau. Our international hotels only accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express. Some of our hotels charge a fee for children or more than two adults in a room. Once you confirm your reservation with a credit card our hotels must hold your room for you until 7am the following morning. If a hotel offers a pool you can use the “Select Hotel Features” functionality by clicking on pool. All the hotels that offer a pool will be listed at the top of the page and ”pool” will be bolded. This information can be found on the hotel's ebrochure within the copy on the page or click on the "hotel services" tab. If a hotel offers parking, whether free or with a fee, the information can be found on the hotels ebrochure. This information will appear somewhere in the copy on their home page. Look specifically at the “Hotel Details” section or click on the "Hotel Services" tab. Continental breakfast consists of (1) breakfast pastry (e.g. Danish, donut, muffin, croissant); (1) non-sweet bread (e.g. English muffin, bread, bagel); coffee, tea, orange juice. Some hotels do and some do not. To find this information go to the hotels ebrochure section this information will appear somewhere on the page in the copy. You can also use the “Select Hotel Features – airport shuttle” amenity found on the search results page after you have chosen a location. Simply check the “airport shuttle” box and all returned hotels that offer a shuttle will be at the top of the list and “airport shuttle” will be bolded. Each hotel sets their own policy on cribs. If a hotel offers one it will be found on the Availability page for that specific hotel. You will need to search for a specific location and date plus the number of adults and children should be filled in. Once you click “Check rates” you are given a list of room types that includes what kind of bed is in the room and some amenities. There will also be a drop down box that says “Extra Bed”. The hotel will list “crib” or “rollaway” depending on what they have available. Make your choice and click “book this room”. You can then proceed to reserve the room and a confirmation email will be sent to you. A park and fly package allows you to stay at a home, rent a room and also park your car while you go somewhere else. If a hotel offers this package you would look on Hotels Deals landing page http://www.choicehotels.com/hoteldeals. You would look for a stay and fly or park and fly package for the state/country you are interested in. If you made your reservation directly with the hotel you will need to contact the hotel to get a receipt. If you booked online at choicehotels.com or via our 800 number and you are a Choice Privileges member with a “My Account” page this information will be listed within your Folio. The AAA/CAA rate plan is offered as an exclusive benefit to members of the American Automobile Association (AAA) or Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) and therefore requires membership verification prior to booking. Choice also provides additional rates and offers to traveling guests who are not currently AAA/CAA members. As of April 2009, Choice Hotels requires guests to include their AAA/CAA member identification number at the time of booking in order to be eligible for the AAA/CAA discount.
