Good Weather FestivalNov 2010 (annual)The picturesque town of Salvatierra stages a colourful festival giving thanks for good weather and a fruitful harvest. The festival begins in the old Indian district of San Juan. Wooden crosses adorn the street corners, each one loaded with fruit, vegetables, bread and flowers, whilst local people bedeck the church facade with squashes and apricots.
In the afternoon, the streets fill with stalls selling arts and crafts, religious artefacts, coffee and enchiladas, and the day's festivities are rounded off with a mix of mass, music and frenetic partying. |
