Its collection includes reconstructed buildings, period furnishings, decorative art objects, clothing and domestic textiles, industrial machinery, craft tools and farming equipment. The open-air living history museum recreates life in Wichita and Sedgwick County, Kansas between 1865 and 1880. There's also an archive of photographs, letters and documents and a collection of livestock - breeds of cow, pig and chicken that were found on the typical 1880s farm.
The town is divided into areas representing specific time periods. |

Directions:
5 minutes west of downtown Wichita, near the Indian Center Museum, the Wichita Art Museum, and Botanica, the Wichita Gardens. Easily reached from Highway 54/400 (Kellogg).
Take the Seneca Street exit, go north and the small brown state signs will guide you to the museum.
