Getting There Augusta lies off I-20, the main route from Atlanta, on the west bank of the Savannah River. Bush Field Airport lies just a 15-minute drive from the center of Augusta. Fifty commercial flights wing their way into the airport daily. Connections are possible via Delta (tel. 800/221-1212) or US Airways (tel. 800/428-4322) from both Atlanta and Charlotte. Special Events It seems that half the world -- at least, the golfing half -- focuses on Augusta the first full week in April for the nationally televised Masters Golf Tournament, a tradition since 1934 and now the most prestigious golf tournament in the world.
