|  |  Alabama Sports Festival State GamesAn annual fixture since 1983 and travelling to a different city each year, the Alabama Sports Festival State Games bring 50 sporting disciplines to the Birmingham Metro area in this Olympic-style event. Sports on the agenda include basketball and cheerleading.In 1983 there were 300 athletes and four sports. Over the festival's first two decades that has grown to 8000 competitors - ranging in age from four to 84 - in 22 different sports! The current list of sports includes archery/bowhunting, bowling, cycling and mountain biking, disc golf, diving, figure skating, gymnastics, inline hockey, karate, shooting sports, soccer, softball, swimming, tae kwondo, track and field, trampoline and tumbling, triathlon, volksmarch, volleyball (indoor and outdoor) and wrestling.
