| | Karnak PlayhouseThe Karnak Playhouse is an open-air amphitheatre bordering the beautiful Daintree National Park. Set in the heart of the Far North Queensland rainforest, its incredible setting hosts theatrical productions from May to November. The sounds of the jungle at night and the starlit sky make for an atmosphere few theatres anywhere can boast.
The playhouse is the brainchild of owner Diane Cilento, an Australian actress who found fame during the 1950s and 1960s (she was nominated for an Oscar for her role as Molly in the film Tom Jones. As well as monthly shows, it's worth a trip out to Karnak to admire the surrounding as you eat in the cafe which sells simple homemade meals, delicious cakes and drinks. |
