Jacksonville Jazz Festival
Return to previous Page ›
The eclectic Jacksonville Jazz Festival includes performances at the Florida Theatre, Ritz Theatre and Metropolitan Park. It coincides with three sister events, the Great American Jazz Piano Competition, the 38 Degrees Latitude Wine Tasting Experience and Art at the Met.
The big names perform at the Ritz and Florida Theatres during the Jacksonville Jazz Festival. Past performers at the festival in Northeast Florida have included Regina Carter, McCoy Tyner, Roy Haynes and Dianne Reeves.
The 38 Degrees Latitude Wine Tasting Experience, held at the same time as the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, offers festival-goers a chance to sample over 50 different types of wine. Experts are on-hand to discuss the various vintages and wine selections are available for purchase by the bottle for consumption within the park.
Finally, five amateur jazz pianists compete for the title of American Jazz Piano champion, along with the chance to play at the festival proper. When it's all over in the park, a special event is held at the Radisson Hotel Southpoint. The Round Midnight Jazz Jam offers musicians of all ages the chance to play together.
