| | Hell of the West TriathlonThe appropriately named Goondiwindi Hell of the West Triathlon is back for another year, pushing competitors' stamina and strength to their limits. Definitely not for the faint-hearted!The Hell of the West Triathlon route involves a 2km swim in the McIntyre River, followed by an 80km cycle along the Barwon Highway, ending with a 20km run west of town.
First held in October 1989, the Hell of the West Triathlon now attracts around 300 individuals and 50 teams every year and was the first triathlon to offer equal prize money for men and women.
In 2007, Pete Jacobs won the men's race and Susan Langley was the female champion, both first-time winners. Applications for participation are invited from each October and forms can be downloaded from the event website. Get training now! |
