| | Festival International de LouisianeThe Festival International de Louisiane in Lafayette celebrates the French cultural heritage of the state and features performers and around 300,000 visitors from all over the world.During the Festival International de Louisiane, a small army of volunteers transform Lafayette into a five-day party that takes in live music on five stages, food courts, street musicians and animators, arts and crafts boutiques, art galleries, beverage stands, cultural workshops, international cooking demonstrations and a world music store.
The essential aim of the event is to celebrate cultural expression and the diverse array of featured acts reflects this. Each year the festival attracts an incredible array of talent and in 2008 the line-up included Malian Mamadou Diabate, Yerba Buena (US/Venezuela/Cuba) and local favourites Sonny Landreth and Red Stick Ramblers. |
