| | São Paulo AnniversaryFounded in 1554 by Jesuit missionaries, the city of São Paulo celebrates its anniversary with musical performances and special cake every year. The most famous cakes are in Bixiga neighbourhood: in 1985 Armando Puglisi made one measuring 1800 metres in length, which made it into the Guinness Book of Records. Now residents continue with the cake-making tradition for São Paulo's anniversary, so there's a metre for every year since the city's foundation. That's a lot of cake, and anyone who goes down to Bixiga is given some for free. |
