| | JambalayaAs the name implies, Jambalaya in Rotorua involves a mixture of ingredients: music, theatre, dance, parades and parties. For three days, the Rotorua Energy Centre and Gardens converts into a mini-carnival village with stages, market stalls and a circus tent. Also known as the New Zealand Festival of Rhythm and Dance, Jambalaya is a full-on party bonanza. The Sol Beer Stage gets visitors in the carnival spirit by hosting live music every day.
You can also go home with a brand-new skill under your belt, thanks to Jambalaya's extensive workshop programme. Why not try your hand at circus skills, Capoeira, African drumming or Bollywood dancing?
Finally, the jewel in the Jambalaya crown is the street carnival and parade.
Jambalaya is not taking place in 2009 but returns in 2010, please visit the festival website for full details of the programme nearer the time. |
