| | Upper Canada Heritage DaysThe Upper Canada Heritage Days at Chatham's Thames Grove Conservation Area plunges the visitor into life in the 1800s. Browse the goods, handicrafts and edibles from the many merchant booths and witness bartering between the Indians and visiting traders.Along with various trading encampments and merchant booths, there are also British and American military units encamped there, drilling their soldiers for battle. History buffs may want to stand by as both naval and land battles from the War of 1812 are re-enacted. What's more, the great native leader Tecumseh or the American General William Henry Harrison (played by actors) recount the events that led to the war between the Americans and the British.
If conflict is not your thing, there are plenty of more peaceful activities to be enjoyed; live music, theatre, puppeteers and jugglers perform at the festival. |
