| | World Buskers FestivalThe pavements of Christchurch spring into life during the Eureka Trust World Buskers Festival. Street artists from across the continents amuse, bewilder and captivate crowds with their juggling skills, stand-up comedy, acrobatics, contortionism and other crazy stunts. The entertainers can range from contemporary clowns to a man who juggles machetes atop a 10ft unicycle while balancing a goldfish on his foot - the imagination really has no limits here!
Most of the action takes place around Victoria Square, home to the festival's Busker Park. Artists perform in the VBASE Amphitheatre and Aerial Stage, while roving entertainers and statue acts dot among the crowds. You'll also stumble across performances in Cathedral Square, Peacock Fountain and the Botanic Gardens.
Audiences can vote for their favourite act in The Press People's Choice Award, where the winner walks away with NZ$5000. |
