Hosted by Austin Convention Center, it features hundreds of gigs, day and night, at venues all over the city.South by Southwest, otherwise known as SXSW, started out as a music and media event in 1987, and now incorporates a film festival and a new media conference into its burgeoning programme. While a fair amount of wheeling and dealing definitely goes on, the amazing line-up of concerts gives proceedings a festival feel.
There are also movie screenings, exhibitions, trade shows and panel discussions for the industry crowd at South by Southwest.
