Grab a grandstand seat to experience an unforgettable slice of motor-racing tradition.Hundreds of balloons herald a deafening roar of engines and bellowed support, then, after one ceremonial lap, 33 cars explode over the start line and slam the pedal to the metal for the next 200 laps.
The fans cram in to enjoy what is in effect a huge outdoor party. The views of the track can be quite limited in many areas of the grandstand, but this does little to deter revellers from making the most of the holiday weekend. If watching the race is a priority then try to get a seat on one of the bends, as these provide the best visibility.
There is also plenty to do before and after the race, with car shows and the Speedway Museum in the infield. Try to spend some time in Gasoline Alley, the road leading from the garages to the track - this is the place to get close to the cars, the drivers and the many celebrities that attend the race. |

On the west side of Indianapolis, just minutes from Indianapolis International Airport. Chicago's O'Hare Airport offers a wider variety of international flights.
By Car: from I-465: take Exit 16A, Crawfordsville Road. Head east approximately 1.5 miles; the Speedway is located on the north-east corner of Crawfordsville and Georgetown Roads.
