|  |  Sidewalk Moving Picture FestivalFirst held in 1999, the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival now shows some 200 films to an audience of 12,000. It brings independent features, shorts, documentaries and student films, as well as a screenwriting competition, to venues throughout Birmingham, Alabama.Inspired by the Sundance Film Festival, in addition to the film screenings in such venues as the Alabama Theatre, Carver Theatre and the McWane Center's Rushton Theatre, the festival creates a street party atmosphere. Live music performances encourage cinemagoers and filmmakers to hang out on the sidewalks eating, drinking and meeting one another. |
