Wichita's Old Cowtown Museum recreates life as it was for the first American pioneers. Its collection includes reconstructed buildings, period furnishings, decorative art objects, clothing and domestic textiles, industrial machinery, craft tools and farming equipment.
The open-air living history museum recreates life in Wichita and Sedgwick County, Kansas between 1865 and 1880. There's also an archive of photographs, letters and documents and a collection of livestock - breeds of cow, pig and chicken that were found on the typical 1880s farm.
The town is divided into areas representing specific time periods.

Directions:5 minutes west of downtown Wichita, near the Indian Center Museum, the Wichita Art Museum, and Botanica, the Wichita Gardens. Easily reached from Highway 54/400 (Kellogg).
Take the Seneca Street exit, go north and the small brown state signs will guide you to the museum.
