|  |  São Silvestre MarathonThe São Silvestre Marathon is one of Latin America's biggest road races and takes place in the streets of São Paulo.The first time the São Silvestre Marathon was held, in 1925, the competitors ran 8000 metres around the paulistana streets. Since then the distance raced has varied, and it is now fixed at 15km.
Today competitors of the São Silvestre Marathon pass down the avenida Paulista to the rua da Consolaçã towards the centre of the city, passing avenida Ipiranga, avenida São João before going up Costa e Silva, Largo Padre Péricles, rua Margarida, avenida Pacaembu, rua Norma Gianotti, avenida Rudge, avenida Rio Branco, Largo do Paissandu, avenida São João, rua Conselheiro Crispiniano, Viaduto do Chá, rua Líbero Badaró, Largo São Francisco, avenida Brigadeiro Luiz Antônio and back to avenida Paulista.
