|  |  Premiers Plans Film FestivalThe university town of Angers in the Loire valley hosts this annual festival of first films by young European directors.Established in 1989, the festival has included luminaries like Bertrand Tavernier and Claude Chabrol among its jurors. With 60 films in competition, half from European film schools and the rest consisting of first works by new directors (including ten feature films), the judges and public have the chance to spot emerging talent early.
The festival also stages public readings of screenplays, workshops where young filmmakers can learn from old pros, themed series and retrospectives. It's a big festival for a small city, and attracts 60,000 visitors every year. |
