| | Tor House and Hawk Tower ToursCarmel's Tor House and Hawk Tower and the surrounding gardens are a national historic landmark and open for tours throughout the year. The Robinson Jeffers Tor House Foundation sponsors events and publishes material in order to preserve the cultural and literary legacy of the Californian poet Robinson Jeffers (1887-1962), who built Tor House from 1918-1919 as a home for himself and his family. The following year he began buliding Hawk Tower as a retreat for his wife and sons.
