| | Nashville Film FestivalFounded in 1969, the Nashville Film Festival (NFF) is hosted by Regal Cinemas 16, in the Green Hills area. The popular annual programme includes screenings of 200 features, an awards ceremony and a closing night gala.Music in films and local filmmaking are given a special focus. The Nashville Film Festival also presents the Freedom in Film Award to a filmmaker or artist who exemplifies the spirit of the First Amendment, in the past including Robert Redford, Susan Sarandon and independent filmmaker Charles Burnett. The top feature film receives the Dreammaker Award, a prize which, by receiving a week's showing in Los Angeles, guarantees Academy Award consideration, as does the winner of the short film competition.
