The Nashville Film Festival (NFF) is hosted by Regal Cinemas 16, in the Green Hills area. The popular annual programme includes screenings of over 200 features, an awards ceremony and a closing night gala.
Music in films and local filmmaking are given a special focus, and the festival also presents the Freedom in Film Award to a filmmaker or artist who exemplifies the spirit of the First Amendment, in the past including Robert Redford, and Susan Sarandon. The top feature film receives the Dreammaker Award, a prize which, by receiving a week's showing in Los Angeles, guarantees Academy Award consideration, as does the winner of the short film competition.
