Saint John's airport has regular flights to Toronto, Halifax, and other Canadian points; contact Air Canada (tel. 888/AIR-CANA) for more information. The airport folds a C$15 (US$12) fee into the tickets of all departing passengers to help finance improvements. Visitor Information -- Saint John has three visitor information centers. Arriving from the west, look for a contemporary triangular building just off the Route 1 West off-ramp (open mid-May to mid-Oct), where you'll find a trove of information and brochures (tel. 506/658-2940). A smaller seasonal information center, reached by exits 119A and 119B, is located inside the observation building overlooking the Reversing Falls on Route 100 (tel. 506/658-2937). If you've already made your way downtown, look for the City Centre Tourist Information Centre (tel. 886/GO-FUNDY or 506/658-2855) inside Market Square, a downtown shopping mall just off the waterfront reached via Exit 22. Find the info center by entering the square at street level at the corner of St. Patrick and Water Streets. During peak season (mid-June to mid-Sept) the center is open daily from 9am to 8pm. The rest of the year it's open daily 9am to 6pm. |
