Getting There

From Wilmington, either take U.S. Route 13 south to Delaware Route 273 east to New Castle, or follow Delaware Route 9 south directly to New Castle. From the south, take Route 301 to Route 13 North. (It's a good day trip from Baltimore or Annapolis, too.)

Special Events

A Day in Old New Castle (tel. 877/496-9498), held the third Saturday in May, gives visitors a chance to tour the town's private homes and gardens, as well as public buildings, gardens, and museums. The Historic New Castle Antiques Show is held in Battery Park in mid-August. A New Castle Christmas features house tours, carolers, and carriage rides in mid-December; contact the New Castle Historical Society (tel. 302/322-2794) for details.
