Getting There If you're driving, Annecy is near several highways: From Paris, take A6 southeast to Beaune and connect with A6/N6 south to Mâcon-Nord. Then follow A40 southeast to Seyssel, connecting with N508 going southeast to Annecy. Allow at least 5 hours. From Geneva, follow A40W to St. Julien and take RN201 south toward Annecy. Trip time is 30 minutes. A car is useful but not essential in the Alps. Annecy has train and bus service from Geneva, Grenoble, Lyon, and Paris. Nine trains per day arrive from Grenoble (trip time: 2 hr.); the one-way fare is 17€ ($22). About six trains daily arrive from Paris's Gare de Lyon (trip time: 3 hr., 40 min.); the fare is 65€ to 90€ ($85-$117) one-way. For information, call tel. 08-92-35-35-35.
