Getting There Take I-75 South from Atlanta, exiting at the signposted exits. Visitor Information If you're traveling south toward Macon on I-75, there's a welcome center (tel. 478/994-8181) and rest area north of the city, open daily from 8:30am to 5:30pm. When you get into town, the Downtown Macon Welcome Center, 200 Cherry St., Macon, GA 31201 (tel. 800/768-3401 or 478/743-3401), at the foot of Cherry Street in the historic Macon Terminal Station, will provide you with information. It's open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Special Events The Cherry Blossom Festival is traditionally held around the last 10 days in March. During that time, 500 activities are planned around the city. You'll find everything from hot-air ballooning to a giant parade with marching bands and floats. Many events are held in the city parks.
