Some are free, while others charge a fee of around $10; most are offered from July to the end of August. Guided trolley tours of downtown, historic homes, and historic churches are offered from July to the end of August. The Upper Hudson River Railroad, 3 Railroad Place, North Creek (tel. 518/251-5334), runs seasonal 2-hour train trips along a gorgeous section of the Upper Hudson River, spring, summer, and fall; $13 adults, $12 seniors, $9 children 3 to 11. Dutch Apple Cruises, corner of Quay and Madison avenues (tel. 518/463-0220), cruises the Hudson with narrated lunch and dinner trips with entertainment. Canal Pilot, Waterford (tel. 518/928-1863), does custom boat tours of the Hudson River as well as Lake Erie and Champlain canals. Hart Tours, 1 Becker Terrace, Delmar (tel. 800/724-4225 or 518/439-6095), is a tour operator that has 1-, 2-, and 3-day area itineraries, including tours of the Adirondacks and Capital District.
