| Things To Do: Railroad DaysJun 2010 (annual)For two days in June the historic Prairie Village near Madison is all about black smoke and thundering steam locomotives, as it opens its doors for the Railroad Days. The village consists of 40 relocated antiques-filled buildings representing early-1900s life and is surrounded by two miles of track of the Herman & Milwaukee Railroad. A Deadwood Number 11 Steamer with original cars graces the rails, along with several diesels. A dedicated Dinner Train rides around the village while meals are served.
Prairie Village also has one of the world's last remaining steam-powered carousels, offering rides on its German-carved horses. |
