| Things To Do: Mercury Outboards' Cheeca/Redbone TournamentNov 2010 (annual)The Mercury Outboards' Cheeca/Redbone Tournament is a celebrity fishing tournament in Islamorada. It's an all-release event (meaning all the fish are released straight after capture) fishing for redfish and bonefish using light tackle, spin casting and fly-casting. The fish are among the most sought-after game fish in the sport. To win the event you inevitably have to capture at least one of each, with the winners generally netting anything between three and ten of each fish. The fishing itself takes place over two days, with each team taking a boat and guide.
Aside from the fishing there is registration, a welcome dinner and dockside parties over the weekend, before the awards dinner on Sunday night. |
