| Things To Do: World of OutlawsNov 2010 (annual)Lowe's Motor Speedway hosts the season finale of the World of Outlaws racing series, which features tiny 150mph cars on the Dirt Track. The three-day event sees drivers sprint around the track at speeds of up to 150mph (240km/h). Powerful 800hp engines are bolted on to cars only 77" (2 metres) wide with a wheelbase of only 87" (2.2 metres). The cars' small size doesn't keep them from sporting enormous spoiler panels, giving them an exotic appearance. The qualifying races see drivers run eight-12 laps and a final of 25 or 40 laps of the half-mile (800m) dirt oval. |
