The picturesque and traditional Keeneland course, in the heart of Kentucky bluegrass country, hosts its eagerly awaited spring meeting, with races every day except Monday and Tuesday, in the run-up to the Kentucky Derby.
With more than US$9.5 million in prize money, Keeneland provides some of the finest Thoroughbred racing in North America. With such top races as the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (worth US$750,000) and the Coolmore Lexington Stakes (US$325,000) - seen as preparatory races for the Kentucky Derby - and the Ashland Stakes (US$500,000), an equally important prelude to the Kentucky Oaks, there is everything to race for. And that just scratches the surfaces of the race programme.
