|  |  Great Gulfcoast Arts FestivalThe Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival is a juried art show that takes place in Seville Square in Downtown Pensacola, attracting over 250,000 visitors every year. Around 200 artists are invited to display their work, picked from over 600 submissions.Prizes are awarded for Best of Show and there are also Awards of Distinction, Excellence, Honor and Merit. Winners from previous festivals are exempt from the jurying process.
The Pensacola Symphony gives a performance each year and this has become a popular part of the festival. The Pensacola Opera presents an opera pops performance with some favorite opera selections, as well as music from Broadway. There is also Zydeco, Cajun, blues and classical piano. The performing arts stage showcases theatre, folk and ballet dance and the occasional bagpipe band.
There is also a large children's art event in neighbouring Bartram Park, which provides kids with loads of hands-on things to paint, make and do. |
