Fort Charlotte | Fort Charlotte Daily Fort Charlotte is the largest of the three major defenses on Nassau, with a moat, dungeons and underground passages to explore. Built in 1788 and named after King George III's consort, it sits on top of a hill that overlooks the far west end of the harbour, with a marvellous view of Paradise Island and a large part of Nassau itself. Its original 42 cannons never made a squeak, and only seven remain. Tours of the old fort are free, although a tip is suggested. |
