Getting There -- Moncton is at the crossroads of several major routes through New Brunswick, including Route 2 (the Trans-Canada Hwy.) and Route 15. The airport is about 10 minutes from downtown on Route 132 (head northeast on Main St. from Moncton and keep driving). Air Canada (tel. 888/AIR-CANA) has traditionally served the city, but the upstart carrier WestJet (tel. 888/937-8538) now connects Moncton with Halifax, Toronto, St. John's, and Calgary, which can then be connected onward to Florida, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas without switching airlines.

VIA Rail's (tel. 888/842-7245) train from Montréal to Halifax stops in Moncton 6 days a week. The rail station is downtown on Main Street, next to Highfield Square.

Visitor Information -- Moncton's primary visitor information center is at Magnetic Hill, Exit 488 off the Trans-Canada Highway (tel. 506/855-8622). It's located in the Wharf Village section, and isn't particularly convenient -- you're required to walk from the parking lot through the faux "village" of shops and boutiques to reach the center. It's open 8am to 8pm daily, late May to early September; weekdays 9am to 5pm, weekends 10am to 6pm through mid-October (closed the rest of the year). A downtown visitor information center is located in Bore Park, just off Main Street at 10 Bendview Ct. (tel. 506/853-3540). It's open daily from 8:30am to 8pm from the end of May to early September, and closes at 4:30pm on weekdays the rest of the year. A third visitor information center can be found at 655 Main St. in the lobby of the modern City Hall, but it's only open in the off season. More information is available on the city's website.
