An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, this state-of-the-art facility is situated on the grounds of the world’s oldest continuously running airport. Like other cities in the area, many College Park locals commute to governmental jobs, both federal and state. But with the University of Maryland within city limits, education wins the title of biggest business in town. Just off the Capital Beltway—Interstates 95 and 495—College Park is ideal for commuting quickly. Take U.S. Highway 1 down into Washington D.C., or leave the commuting up to the conductors on Metro or MARC trains that stop there. The Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport across the Potomac in Virginia is closer to College Park in mileage, but the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport may end up being more convenient if you don’t want to cut through D.C. There are train services from Reagan to College Park and bus services from BWI to the city.
