One of Pennsylvania’s favorite beach destinations, this park is located on a jutting strip of land. It was named after the French word for “almost an island” because of its thin peninsula that connects the park to the state of Pennsylvania. It is a haven for recreational beach activities and you will see many people biking the coastline, swimming, fishing and hiking. It also exhibits a lot of biodiversity and is a haven for migrating birds and threatened or endangered species.
As you travel around the park, there are a number of special things you should check out. First, you should get a hot dog at Sara’s located right at the park entrance. Next, try visiting Kite Beach and if the wind is right, you might just see some kites being flown. The multi-purpose trail is a great way to circle around the park, whether you are walking or on a bike. Finally, during the summer months, you might find a live-music show along the loop as you catch an amazing sunset on the beach.
These are only a few things that Presque Island offers, and there are still plenty of coves and lagoons to explore along the coastline. While you spend the day on the peninsula, stay at Choice Hotels for the night. Our Presque Island hotels have all the amenities you can want and they are a great option if you are looking for a place to stay.
