The tower has not been functional for many years, but it has been preserved as a historical point of interest; however, it hasn’t been declared a Historical Landmark yet, because there is not much information about the tower’s active past or when it was constructed. While there are historical records that show the area near the tower was the site of an artesian well in 1911, there is no record of when the tower was actually built. To learn more about the city’s history, visit the Artesia Historical Museum. It’s located on Pioneer Boulevard at the site of a home that was constructed back in 1929. While the exterior of the home was relocated and preserved, a new exterior was built to house the museum, which features the home’s original hardwood floors, arched ceiling, fireplace and wall lighting scones.
