This historic mining town is the county seat of Gila County and is situated near the mid-point of the legendary Old West Highway that stretches from Apache Junction, Arizona east to Lordsburg, New Mexico. It supposedly got its name when a globe-shaped piece of pure silver was salvaged from the earth nearby.
