Located in the Atlanta Metropolitan area, this park is known for its rich history and natural offerings. It features the largest bas-relief structure in the world; the Confederate Memorial Carving started in the early 1900’s and was not finished until 1972. Featuring Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson, the sculpture commemorates the leaders of the confederate movement that lost the Civil War. The bas-relief carved into the rock stretches to about two football fields in length and is the main centerpiece of the park.
There are plenty of activities to do around the park for all ages. You can take a cable car to the top of the mountain and get a closer look at the amazing sculpture, or take a short train ride around the park.
