One street away from downtown State College, Penn State University is always buzzing with the energy of the student body and bursting with cultural and sporting activities. The campus and community bleeds the school’s colors, white and blue. Take a tour of the beautiful campus or experience the roar inside of Beaver Stadium, Penn State’s 107,000-seat football venue. The Arboretum at Penn State is well worth visiting with its huge expanse of flowers, gardens, trees and paths. Seasonal events are hosted on the greens, but most people come for the five-acres of Botanic Gardens.
The Palmer Museum of Art in the center of campus is a delightful place to get a dose of art with its impressive permanent collection and traveling exhibits. Most of State College's fun attractions are within walking distance from the Penn State campus, including the Discovery Space of Central Pennsylvania. With 4,000-square feet of interactive exhibits, this museum is an excellent place to keep kids entertained for a couple of hours. If you plan to bring your golf clubs, then head over to the Penn State Golf Courses. Located just a short drive from campus are the two 18-hole courses situated in the rolling terrain of Pennsylvania. Choose between the Blue or White course and hit the links. Or you can leave the driver at home and grab the putter for a round at Happy Valley MiniGolf, just a five-minute drive from the Penn State Campus. This is a great way to spend time with the kids outdoors.
