Hotels in Sedalia, MO

Sedalia Hotels

Reserve with Choice Hotels in Sedalia, MO, a popular location for shooting television shows and films. Sedalia, MO was the destination for cattle drives in the long-running Western TV series “Rawhide,” and home to Henry Winkler and Harrison Ford while filming the movie “Heroes” in 1977. It also was the adopted home of Scott Joplin, and a made-for-TV movie about the ragtime musician, starring Billy Dee Williams, was filmed in Sedalia. The city offers plenty of history and culture, with things to see and do for the entire family.

Built by John Bothwell, the Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site is charming. Inside the home, which is built atop two natural caves, you will marvel at Bothwell's eclectic tastes and original furnishings. The view from the bluff is spectacular. Although Bothwell lived frugally, he was a great philanthropist within the Sedalia community. Located on the State Fair Community College Campus, the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art is open to everyone. Featuring mid-20th century exhibits of paintings, drawings, prints, works in clay and sculptures, artists include Andy Warhol, Robert Motherwell, Betty Woodman and Dale Chihuly.

The Downtown Sedalia Historic District features a mix of dining, art, culture and unique shopping opportunities. The elegant building facades are delightful. You can spend hours browsing in this charming district. The Missouri State Fairgrounds spans 396 acres and hosts livestock shows, sporting events and car racing. Something is happening at the fairgrounds year round, and several U.S. presidents have spoken there. The Pettis County Museum is run by the local historical society in their effort to preserve the region's history. Filled with local artifacts and displays of Sedalia, the building is small, but you can easily spend an hour asking questions and enjoying the displays.

The Sedalia Katy Depot was a fully functioning railroad station back in 1896, and today it serves as Sedalia's official welcome center. A railroad exhibit and the Depot Store offer glimpses into train travel both past and present. A bicycle rental shop is conveniently located here, and the Depot serves as the trailhead for the Katy Trail State Park.

Book today with one of these Sedalia hotels and you will have art, history and the great outdoors at your fingertips.
