Perched on the point of Cape Dombey, the iconic red-and-white striped Robe obelisk was built in the 1850s to guide ships into Guichen Bay. Originally constructed by local builder George Shivas - and painted red and white so it would stand out from the surrounding sand hills - today the obelisk is a popular spot to take in the sweeping ocean views and explore the nearby coastal trails. A great way to immerse yourself in the wonders of this region.

Beacon Hill Lookout

Once site of a wooden structure known as ‘One Tree Hill’, which was used as a navigational aid for fishermen, today Beacon Hill Lookout is home to a circular stone tower with that is easily accessible by car or foot - the summit is accessed by a 28 metre-long timber boardwalk, which rises over three metres. At the top you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of Robe, Guichen Bay, and the surrounding bushland. It’s an ideal place for a picnic or to watch the sun dip below the horizon.

The beach lives up to its name with around 12 kilometres of sandy shoreline, as well as being uniquely known for being as a beach where you can drive onto the sand. The gentle surf also makes this a great place to take the family swimming or enjoy the nearby picnic areas. Grab your towel and soak up some sun.

It’s also known for its variety of lakes, from the salty Lake Eliza to picturesque Freshwater Lake. The region is the traditional home of the Bunganditj and Meintangk people, and middens are still visible in the surrounding area. There’s also plenty of activities to enjoy around the park from birdwatching to surfing.

This natural attraction is best viewed at low tide or from nearby lookout points. A good time to take a stroll is at sunrise or sunset - the golden views of the Southern Ocean are superb.

Built between 1949 and 1951 Robe Jetty is the town’s fourth built historic jetty and an iconic landmark - not to mention a great place to take in the surrounding views as you chill out or go for a stroll along the waterfront.
