The Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer is an outdoor living history museum that offers a glimpse into early pioneer life. The restored town from the late 1800s features a log cabin, an original farmstead, a one-room schoolhouse, an antique farm machinery exhibit and an authentic railroad display. You can even jump aboard a working steam locomotive to tour the grounds. For some fun in the sun, head to Island Oasis Water Park to enjoy the water slides, a lazy river, spraying fountains, a large wave pool and more. Visit the Crane Meadows Nature Center to experience the natural wildlife of Nebraska and the Platte River region. While the center is open year-round for wildlife viewing, bird watching and nature walks, it is especially eventful in March, when nearly 500,000 Sandhill Cranes stopover during their annual spring migration. This spectacular event is an incredibly unique experience.
Check out the largest public shooting facility in the country, the Heartland Public Shooting Park. The park offers a range of activities for both competitive and recreational shooters, including an archery range, skeet fields and a five stand range. Jackrabbit Run Golf Course is an 18-hole public golf course that is open year-round. Practice your swing in the practice facility or rent a golf cart and play a full game on the well-conditioned greens. Swing by the snack bar and beverage cart after you play.
