EXPLORING THE NEW FACE OF OLD TOWN
A recent $23 million renovation to the ACC—located between the Sandia Mountains and the Rio Grande river—has made the complex even more attractive to big events. In recent years, the facility has hosted the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships and the NCAA Men’s Division I Indoor Track and Field Championship. The ACC features a 200-meter, 60-degree banked track with 60-meter straightaways, running runways, pits, and facilities for shot put, pole vault and high jump events.
Albuquerque has a variety of options for getting around town. Visitors can take the Rapid Ride system, go for a trolley ride in historic Old Town, or even hop on the Rail Runner to Santa Fe.
Downtown Albuquerque recently underwent a multi-million-dollar revitalization, but it still stays true to its “Route 66” roots. Some of the most widely-visited destinations in Albuquerque include the famous Pueblo Deco-style KiMo Theatre, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History, and the ABQ BioPark-Zoo.
