Paw Paw is the county seat of Van Buren County. The county was originally planned out in 1927 and Paw Paw was chosen as the county seat ten years later. The village was named after the pawpaw trees lined the river at the time. These days, pawpaw trees are less common in the area, but this part of the state is a major producer of grapes – making it the heart of Michigan’s wine country! St. Julian’s Winery, which is the oldest and most awarded winery in the state is located here, along with many other wonderful wineries. When visiting the area, you can sample many delicious wines, brews and spirits; and there are many delightful restaurants that offer a variety of cuisines.
In addition to visiting the village’s renowned wineries, shopping enthusiasts will enjoy searching for unique treasures at the many antique stores and flea markets, and golfers can play a round at one of several courses. There are also ski areas and nature trails that offer scenic beauty and outdoor recreation. If you’re searching for a Paw Paw hotel for a family vacation, our locations are just a short drive from the Air Zoo, which is a popular attraction that showcases the story of flight through aviation, space and science exhibits.Prepare for your trip by booking a room at one of the Choice Hotels in Paw Paw, MI!
