The city of Pittsburg was founded in 1876, and named after Pittsburgh, PA. To learn more about the area’s history, visit the Crawford County Historical Museum. It houses a variety of artifacts from the city’s history, including coal mining and farming materials, horse drawn vehicles, vintage clothing and more. Additionally, there’s an outdoor exhibit that provides a glimpse into the past by showcasing a one-room schoolhouse, a coal-mining steam shovel and a neighborhood grocery store from the early 20th century. Built in 1910 through a donation from Andrew Carnegie, it’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places.In the summer, you can cool off at the Pittsburg Aquatic Center.
